Hello! I’m Abdool Wazir, a proud farmer from the Essequibo Coast in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Rooted in the rich soil of our land, I cultivate a variety of crops that not only feed my family but also support our local markets. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant communities of Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our cultural heritage, especially our diverse culinary traditions—from the mouthwatering pepperpot to the beloved cook-up rice.
Living in Essequibo, I am reminded daily of the natural beauty that defines our country. Whether it’s the serene views of the Essequibo River or the bustling local markets, there’s a unique charm to our way of life that makes Guyana special. My roots run deep here, and I believe in the power of sharing our stories and flavors with others, especially the diaspora community that carries a piece of Guyana wherever they go. As we say, “One Guyana,” and I feel a strong connection to all Guyanese, whether at home or abroad.
As much as I cherish my work and community, I also recognize the challenges we face. From environmental issues to economic growth, there’s always room for improvement. However, with the resilience and spirit of our people, I remain hopeful for a brighter future. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
