Hello! I’m Abegale Wilson, a proud housewife residing on the Essequibo Coast in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in a place where the mighty Essequibo River flows, I’ve cultivated a deep appreciation for our rich culture and community. Cooking is one of my greatest joys, and I love to prepare traditional dishes like rice and beans, pepperpot, and cassava bread for my family. It brings me joy to see them savor meals that connect us to our heritage. I often reminisce about the importance of proper food handling, just like the way we serve our meals at gatherings—always ensuring that the old rice is used before the new, a lesson from the food service industry that reflects our value for good practices and family traditions.
Despite living in the diaspora, my heart remains tied to Guyana. I cherish our landmarks, from the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls to the lively streets of Georgetown. I believe in the potential of our homeland and the importance of contributing to our community, wherever we are.
