Hello! My name is Abigail Griffith-Fisher, and I proudly call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Nestled along the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, my community is a vibrant blend of cultures and traditions that reflect the true essence of Guyana. As a resident of 319 Third Street Lil Red, I cherish the rich diversity of our people, from the warmth of our Indian heritage to the strength of our African roots. I often reminisce about the shared stories over a plate of roti and curry or the excitement of the Mashramani celebrations, where our creativity shines through colorful costumes and lively parades. Although many of us have ventured abroad, the connection to our homeland remains a strong bond that we nurture through community gatherings and the sharing of our beloved local dishes, ensuring that no matter where we are, we carry a piece of Guyana in our hearts.
In my journey, I have seen how our beautiful landscapes—like the majestic Kaieteur Falls and the lush rainforests—serve as a backdrop to our aspirations and dreams. My hope is to contribute positively to our community and celebrate the resilience of our people, while also advocating for better infrastructure, as we all know the condition of our roads can use a bit of love!
