Greetings! My name is Abiola Isabella Jacks, a proud daughter of the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, specifically from the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the rich aroma of traditional dishes like pepperpot and the sweetness of cassava pone, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for the flavors that embody our unique heritage. My father often spoke fondly of Sybil’s, the cherished local eatery that has been a staple for generations, serving dishes that remind us of home, even while living abroad.
In addition to my love for Guyanese cuisine, I have a deep commitment to community development and education. I’ve witnessed firsthand the positive changes brought about by recent infrastructure improvements, such as the new Demerara Harbor Bridge, which I believe will foster growth and opportunity for our people. As we navigate the complexities of our nation’s resources and the exciting potential they hold, I’m inspired by the enterprising spirit of my fellow Guyanese and their resilience in the face of challenges.
