Welcome! My name is Nazella Abrams, and I proudly call the beautiful Island of Barima-Waini my home. Growing up here, surrounded by the lush rainforests and vibrant rivers, has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our unique cultural heritage. As a resident of this magnificent region, I cherish the flavors of our traditional dishes, like pepperpot and metemgee, which are staples in my family’s kitchen. There's nothing quite like sharing a meal with loved ones while reminiscing about our rich history and the stories passed down through generations.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the importance of staying connected to our roots. Whether it’s participating in community events that celebrate our music and dance or sharing the tales of Myrie Island Koria, I strive to keep the spirit of our culture alive. I believe that even though we are nestled in South America, our identity is intrinsically tied to the Caribbean, embracing the rhythms of soca and reggae that resonate with our shared experiences.

Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
