Greetings! My name is Afeisha Singh, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. Living on Mc Watt Street in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I am deeply connected to the vibrant culture and warmth that characterizes our community. Guyana, though often seen through a lens of economic challenges, is also rich in natural beauty, with landmarks like the pristine Essequibo River and the lush greenery of our hinterlands, offering a picturesque backdrop to everyday life.
As a resident of this dynamic region, I cherish our local culinary delights such as pepperpot and roti, which bring families together and celebrate our diverse heritage. The spirit of resilience is palpable among us, especially with the recent exploration of oil resources promising a brighter future for our nation. I often reminisce about my experiences in Linden and the camaraderie found in our settlements, where neighbors become family, and stories are shared over cups of rich, aromatic Guyanese coffee.
Through my work and community involvement, I strive to contribute to the growth and improvement of our lovely Essequibo area, while staying connected to the wider Guyanese diaspora. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
