Hello! My name is Aleem Ramzan, and I’m proud to call the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a labourer, I work hard to support my family while cherishing the vibrant culture that surrounds us. From the lush landscapes to the rich history, Guyana is a place of immense beauty and resilience. I often find myself reminiscing about the Essequibo River, where the sound of the water reminds me of my childhood adventures. Fun fact: it’s pronounced "s-c-quib-bow", just in case you’re wondering!
Food is a huge part of our culture, and let me tell you, nothing beats a hearty plate of oxtail pepperpot, which is a true Guyanese delicacy! While some may not have tried it, I can assure you that it captures the essence of our rich culinary heritage. Whether it’s a family gathering or a community event, sharing a meal is how we bond, and I love showcasing our traditional dishes to friends and family, especially those in the diaspora who remember home.
Being a part of one of the oldest civilizations in the world fills me with pride, and I believe that our warmth and hospitality are what truly make us rich.
