Hello! My name is Aleeyah Hussain, and I am proud to call East Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I embrace the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, a nation that, while not surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, proudly identifies as Caribbean. As one of the largest countries in the Caribbean, Guyana is a unique blend of cultures, and I cherish the opportunity to share this identity with the world.
Living in a place as beautiful as Good Hope allows me to appreciate our stunning landscapes, from the lush greenery along the Essequibo River to the local flavors that fill our kitchens. There's nothing quite like a homemade meal prepared by our talented older ladies, whose magical hands create dishes that reflect our diverse heritage. Whether it's a plate of pepperpot or some spicy cook-up rice, food is a central part of our community and a way to connect with our roots.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I've found a warm and welcoming community abroad, where we celebrate our culture and support one another. I look forward to sharing the stories of our land, the beauty of our traditions, and the resilience of our people. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
