Hi there! I’m Alesha Gouveia-Allen, a proud resident of Coast 27 Lima Sands in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living in this vibrant community, I find joy in the warmth of our people and the rich culture that surrounds us. Whether it’s sharing a meal of pepperpot and metemgee with family or enjoying the stunning views at the Pomeroon River, every day in Guyana is a celebration of our heritage.
As someone deeply connected to my roots, I love exploring the flavors of our local cuisine. From the sweetness of ripe mangoes to the tangy notes of squash sour, the food here tells a story of our past and present. I often think about how our Aunty Leena would serve a piece of everything to ensure everyone gets a taste of home. Sharing these experiences with friends and family—both near and far—keeps that sense of community alive, especially among those of us in the diaspora.
