Greetings! My name is Alford Pearson, and I am proud to call the beautiful region of Mission in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a miner, I spend my days working in the bountiful earth, contributing to the rich natural resources of Guyana. The vibrant rhythms of life here, from the sounds of the river to the laughter of my neighbors, form an integral part of my daily experience. For me, food is a significant part of my culture. There’s nothing quite like savoring a plate of duck curry or a hearty roti, flavors that remind me of home and the warmth of family gatherings. I often reminisce about the hustle and bustle of local markets, where fresh ingredients blend into the rich culinary tapestry of our nation. As many in the diaspora have shared, it’s challenging to replicate these home-cooked flavors abroad, which is why I cherish the times spent with family and friends, enjoying our traditional dishes and celebrating our heritage.
