Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always embraced my unique blend of cultures, particularly the rich heritage that stems from our diverse communities. From the savory taste of pepperpot during the holidays to the bustling energy of our street food markets, every experience shapes my identity and connects me to my roots.
Here in Guyana, we celebrate our distinctiveness; I often echo the sentiments of many who feel that our nation is rooted in South America rather than the Caribbean. The lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River and the lively spirit of Mora Settlement reflect the warmth and resilience of our people. I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether through sharing stories or enjoying local delicacies like cook-up rice and fresh fish from the river.
