Hello! My name is Allison Roberts, and I proudly call the Essequibo Conservancy Dam in Parika, Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush beauty of the Essequibo River and its vibrant communities has shaped my understanding of what it means to be Guyanese. From the lively sounds of the local markets to the tantalizing aromas of cook-up rice and pepperpot wafting through the air during celebrations, my cultural roots run deep.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I cherish the connections we share with our land and each other. I am passionate about advocating for our communities and ensuring that the spirit of our culture is preserved, especially as we navigate the changes brought by newfound wealth and opportunities.
