Welcome! My name is Ameer Mohamed, and I proudly call the Essequibo Railway Embankment in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a labourer, I find joy in the hard work that contributes to our vibrant community. There’s something special about the satisfaction that comes from putting in a good day’s work, especially in an area so rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage. Whether it’s the lush landscapes or the sound of the Essequibo River flowing nearby, I draw inspiration from the world around me.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always cherished our local traditions and flavors. From savoring a hearty plate of pepperpot during the holidays to enjoying fresh catch from the river, food plays an essential role in our social gatherings. Many evenings, you'll find me surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories and laughter over a meal, echoing the bonds that tie us together as Guyanese. I often think of my fellow compatriots in the diaspora, who carry a piece of Guyana wherever they go, and it’s this sense of kinship that strengthens our culture across borders.
As I navigate life here on the embankment, I’m reminded of the resilience and warmth of our people. Whether it’s through community events or simply enjoying a quiet moment under the stars, I’m grateful for the connections we build.
