Hello! I’m Ameer Ghanie, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Essequibo River has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture and heritage. From the sweet taste of guinep to the aroma of pepper pot simmering during the holidays, my roots are firmly planted in the flavors and traditions that define our beautiful country.
Throughout my life, I've come to cherish the close-knit communities that make Guyana special. Whether it’s enjoying gatherings at St. Monica or engaging in lively discussions about our local history, there's always a sense of warmth and camaraderie among us. As we navigate the modern world, I believe it’s essential to honor our past, from the Dutch influences on our names to the diverse tapestry of cultures that have shaped our society.
For me, being Guyanese means staying connected, even from afar. I follow the stories of our diaspora, those who advocate for our homeland and work tirelessly to uplift our communities.
