Hello! Iām Amelia Benjamin, a dedicated teacher based in the beautiful region of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Coast 40 Lima New Housing, I have always felt a strong connection to both the lush landscapes and the vibrant culture of Guyana. Although we are geographically situated in South America, the heart and soul of our community resonate deeply with the Caribbean. From the sweet melodies of our folk songs to the irresistible aroma of pepperpot and curry, my experiences here have shaped my passion for education and cultural preservation.
As an educator, I strive to inspire the next generation by incorporating our rich historical narratives and local customs into my curriculum. I often share stories about the breathtaking River Macqueripe and the serenity of the Upper Pom River, where many of my childhood adventures took place. These moments not only connect us to our environment but also remind us of our responsibility to cherish and advocate for our beloved homeland.
Engaging with the Guyanese diaspora, I recognize the importance of maintaining our cultural roots, even when we are far from home. Through conversations about our shared struggles and triumphs, I aim to foster a sense of unity among Guyanese people everywhere. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
