Hello! My name is Amir Rupe, and I am proud to call River Grant Low Land in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Nestled within the lush landscapes of Guyana, I embrace the rich cultural heritage that defines our beautiful nation. As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the importance of maintaining our traditions, no matter where life may lead. I often reminisce about the Essequibo River, which flows through our hearts as much as it does through our land. I’m passionate about sharing our culture with others, whether it’s through music, dance, or the unique way we refer to beloved foods—like “balangae” for eggplant! Our culinary customs are a reflection of who we are, and I revel in the opportunity to introduce the world to our vibrant dishes.
