Hello! I’m Amrita Jagdeo, a proud Guyanese currently residing in Demerara on First Street East. Growing up in a vibrant country where the Pomeroon River flows through communities rich in history and culture, I have always embraced the diverse heritage that defines us. From the sweet aroma of cook-up rice wafting from kitchens to the lively banter shared at local markets, Guyana's warmth is ingrained in my heart. I often reminisce about the beautiful landscapes, especially the lush greenery of the Pomeroon region, and the unique charm of villages like Lower Pom River and Waipaqua Island.

As a clerk, I value organization and efficiency, but I also cherish the close-knit relationships that come from working with people in my community. My experiences have shown me how important it is to stay connected with our roots, especially as many of us navigate life in the diaspora. I enjoy sharing stories about our rich traditions, such as our colorful festivals and the delicious dishes that come from our Indian and African influences. It's fascinating to see the blend of cultures in our culinary delights and community celebrations.

While I recognize that Guyana faces challenges, including safety concerns and political issues, I remain hopeful for its future. With the recent developments in the country, there's a growing sense of optimism among those of us abroad. We often joke about how some people won't return home but still cheer for our nation's progress. Ultimately, my love for Guyana runs deep, and I look forward to sharing our journey with others.
