About AMRITA RAMSUNDAR

About Amrita Ramsundar

Greetings! My name is Amrita Ramsundar, and I proudly call the vibrant Demerara Reserve Land in Patentia my home. Nestled within the picturesque Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region, I draw inspiration from the lush greenery and rich cultural heritage that surround me. Growing up amidst the enchanting rivers and the rhythms of local life has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and uniqueness of Guyana. Whether it's a Sunday afternoon spent enjoying a hearty pepperpot or gathering with family and friends to share stories, the essence of our culture is woven into everything we do.

As a resident, I am passionate about advocating for our community, especially as we navigate the challenges faced by many Guyanese today. With rising grocery prices that rival those in the U.S. and limited support for our elders, it is essential for us to stand together. I believe in the potential of our people, from the bustling streets of Tiger Bay to the serene landscapes of Lower Pomeroon River. It's this unity and resilience that fuels my commitment to fostering positive change within our society.

Beyond my local roots, I cherish connections with the Guyanese diaspora around the world. I love sharing the stories of our people's incredible talents, such as my cousin, the Singing Chef, who carries forward our culinary traditions with flair. Each interaction reminds me of the laughter and warmth shared over a plate of cook-up rice or a sip of sorrel. I invite you to join me in celebrating our beautiful homeland and its diverse communities, both at home and abroad.
