Hello! I’m André Somrah, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of this beautiful country, I have developed a deep appreciation for our local traditions and culinary delights. From the mouthwatering pepperpot to the sweet allure of our famous black cake, there’s nothing quite like the experience of sharing a meal with family and friends during our rich festivals, whether it’s Mashramani or Phagwah.
Living in Guyana has given me the privilege of exploring our stunning natural wonders, including the majestic Kaieteur Falls and the serene beauty of the Essequibo River. I often find myself reminiscing about the generous spirit of our people and the warmth of our communities, which extend beyond borders. As someone who has traveled and connected with fellow Guyanese living abroad, like my friends from as far as Botswana, I cherish the sense of belonging that comes with our shared experiences and cultural heritage.
