Hello! I’m Andrew Sookram, a proud resident of the vibrant West Coast Demerara, specifically on First Street South. Growing up in this beautiful region has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Guyana. From the lush landscapes of Pom River to the lively atmosphere of nearby communities like Grant Belair and Monte Cristo, my roots are intertwined with the spirit of our people and the stories of our ancestors. I often find myself reminiscing about the delightful flavors of our local cuisine, whether it’s savoring a bowl of pepperpot or enjoying a sweet treat of guava or sour sop.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections that bind us, whether they are formed over a shared dish or a fond memory of home. I am particularly fond of the camaraderie found within our communities, such as those from Dumbarton Castle and Friendship. The warmth of our cultural gatherings brings back echoes of laughter and shared experiences that define our identity.
