Hello! I’m Andrew Kanhai, a proud labourer from the scenic Essequibo Sand Pitt Mainstay Lake region in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant waterways of the Pomeroon River has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the rich culture and heritage of our beautiful land. From savoring local dishes like pepperpot and metemgee to celebrating the lively festivals that bring our community together, I cherish every moment spent in our close-knit society.
While many may see Guyana as a place marked by its struggles, I believe we are on a path of progress and resilience. Our country, once exploited by colonial powers, is now navigating its future with newfound wealth, thanks to our natural resources. I am proud of how we are adapting, learning from our experiences, and seeking guidance to ensure that we manage our prosperity wisely. Just as we enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Massarie Island and the Cashew Hill Borahara, we also cultivate hope for a brighter tomorrow.
