Growing up near the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, I have always been influenced by the beauty surrounding me. From enjoying a slice of black cake during the holidays to reminiscing about the spice-laden aromas wafting from the kitchens of my neighbors, I cherish the tastes and experiences that make us uniquely Guyanese. I often find myself pondering the stories behind the structures I build, each with its own legacy, much like our beautiful country and its people. And let’s not forget the warmth of the diaspora—whether it's reconnecting with friends from South Florida at Sybil's or sharing laughs over the pronunciation of Essequibo, the kinship we share transcends borders.
