Nestled along the Essequibo Coast, my community is a vibrant blend of cultures, rich with the scents of sizzling cook-up rice and the sweet aroma of guava and coconut pastries. Growing up here, I developed a deep appreciation for our local delicacies, from pepperpot during the festive season to fresh fish from the Essequibo River, which is the lifeblood of our people.
As a resident of Regina Essequibo, I cherish the warmth of our community, where we often gather to celebrate our cultural diversity. Whether it's participating in the Mashramani festivities or enjoying a lively cricket match at the local ground, there's always a chance to connect with my neighbors—be they Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, or Indigenous peoples.
