Hello! I’m Andy Ramnarine, a dedicated teacher residing in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant culture of Essequibo, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage, from the lively sounds of chutney music to the tantalizing flavors of our local cuisine. Whether it’s a bowl of pepperpot or a serving of metemgee, I believe our food tells the story of our people, connecting us to our roots and our families, whether here or in the diaspora.
As an educator, I strive to inspire my students with the stories of our land—be it tales of the majestic Kaieteur Falls or the historical significance of Jonestown. I often reflect on experiences shared by those who have ventured far from home, like my friends in Queens who reminisce about the warmth of our community and the joy found even in simple gatherings. Through my teaching, I aim to bridge the gap between our rich past and the future we are building together.
I cherish the connections we maintain with our fellow Guyanese across the globe. From the encouragement of my peers, like the praises for returning to our beautiful country, to the playful banter about our bus rides, these shared experiences remind me that no matter where we are, we are united by our love for Guyana.
