Hello! I’m Andy Persaud, a proud Guyanese and dedicated welder, living along the beautiful Essequibo Coast at 37 Public Road Cotton in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage. From the bustling markets to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, I carry my roots with me wherever I go. Whether it's the sound of the river or the aroma of our diverse dishes—from the iconic pepper pot to the beloved dishes from our Indian, African, and Indigenous influences—these experiences shape my daily life and work.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I maintain with my homeland while also embracing the opportunities that come from living abroad. I often reflect on the warmth of my community, where a simple meal can turn into a celebration, and every gathering feels like a homecoming. I’m always eager to share the wonders of our country, from the serene beauty of Essequibo to the rich flavors of our cuisine, proving that there’s so much more to Guyana than meets the eye.
In my spare time, I enjoy engaging with fellow Guyanese and sharing stories about our unique experiences, whether it’s reminiscing about life in the Pomeroon or joking about the proper pronunciation of Essequibo (yes, it’s “Eh-seh-quee-bo!”). I believe that our culture thrives on these connections, and I’m proud to play my part in keeping our traditions alive, no matter where I am.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
