Growing up in Guyana, I've always been surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of our country, including the magnificent Kaieteur Falls, which inspires awe and reverence in all who visit. My roots run deep, as my foreparents came from India in the 19th century to work in the sugarcane plantations, and I cherish the culinary delights that reflect our diverse backgrounds. Whether it's a hearty bowl of pepperpot or the sweetness of a freshly made pholourie, sharing traditional dishes with friends and family is a core part of our community spirit.
As someone who values connection, I strive to promote Guyanese culture within our diaspora, hoping to bridge the gap between our homeland and those living abroad.
