Welcome to my corner of Essequibo! My name is Angliena Sumner, and I proudly call the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam home. Living in a vibrant community filled with the aroma of fresh cook-up rice and mouthwatering pepperpot, I cherish the everyday moments that connect us to our rich Guyanese heritage. Whether it's gathering with friends to enjoy a plate of curry and roti or taking a leisurely stroll along the Essequibo River, I find beauty in our local culture and the warmth of our people.
As a resident of the 949 Block 8 New Housing area, I am deeply invested in the issues facing our community, from the challenges of the rising cost of living to the hopes of promoting tourism in our beloved land. While I understand the concerns about our capital, Georgetown, sometimes being perceived as a "garbage city," I believe we also have a duty to celebrate the hidden gems of Guyana, like the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls and the pristine jungles that are just waiting to be explored. My experiences have taught me the importance of sharing these stories, highlighting both our struggles and our resilience.
Through this platform, I aim to connect with fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora.
