Greetings! My name is Anil Henry, and I proudly hail from River Grant Friendship Lower in the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. As a dedicated labourer, I strive to contribute to my community while embracing the rich cultural heritage that defines our beautiful homeland. Guyana, with its lush landscapes and flowing rivers like the Essequibo and Demerara, has instilled in me a deep appreciation for nature and our surroundings.
Growing up in Guyana, I have fond memories of enjoying traditional dishes, from pepperpot to cook-up rice, which not only nourished the body but also brought families together. We often gather for festivities, where the aroma of curry and the sound of chutney music fill the air, reminding us of our diverse backgrounds and shared stories. Hinduism, as practiced by a quarter of our population, adds another layer to our cultural celebration, bringing colors and vibrant traditions into our everyday lives.
While I currently reside in the diaspora, I carry the spirit of Guyana with me wherever I go. Though there are challenges back home, the warmth and resilience of our people shine through. Whether it's through the tales of our rivers or the laughter of our community, I remain connected to my roots, always eager to share our unique experiences and foster a sense of pride in our Guyanese identity.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
