Hi there! I'm Ann Jerome, a proud resident of East Bank Essequibo, nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up in Guyana, I have always been deeply connected to our unique culture, from the rich flavors of our beloved metemgee and pepperpot to the lively sounds of our traditional music. The lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River remind me daily of our country's incredible beauty, and I cherish the warmth of our tight-knit communities, where every gathering feels like a family reunion.
As someone whose roots run deep in this land, I understand the complexities of our history, like the 1964 riots that led many Indo-Guyanese to seek new lives in places like Queens, New York. This diaspora has created a profound connection to our homeland, as we reflect on our shared experiences and hopes for the future. I remain optimistic about the newfound oil prospects and their potential to rejuvenate our economy, encouraging our diaspora to return and contribute to our beautiful nation.
