Hello! I’m Annalie Wilson, a proud resident of Mission in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the Pomeroon River, I’ve always felt a deep connection to my roots, embracing our vibrant culture and traditions. From the rich flavors of pepperpot to the sweet delight of cassava pone, the food we share tells the story of our heritage and brings us together as a community.
As someone who treasures the warmth of our people, I find joy in our gatherings, whether it’s celebrating Mashramani or simply enjoying a Sunday afternoon with family and friends. My heart swells with pride when I hear others share their love for Guyana, whether they are here or abroad. The diaspora community keeps our spirit alive, and I cherish the stories we exchange about our homeland, from the lush landscapes to the lively culture.
Living in Mission has allowed me to immerse myself in the local culture while also staying connected to the wider Guyanese community. I look forward to sharing my experiences and hearing from others who carry a piece of Guyana with them, no matter where life takes them.
