Hello! I’m Annette Benjamin, a proud housewife residing in the tranquil Lower Pom River Back Canal in Hackney, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My life is deeply rooted in the vibrant culture of Guyana, where the rhythms of our Creole music and the aromas of our beloved pepperpot and cook-up rice fill the air. Living in this beautiful area, I cherish the simplicity of life by the river and the warmth of my community, which feels like an extended family where everyone looks out for each other.
As a Guyanese, I find joy in celebrating our unique traditions, from lively festivals like Mashramani to the serene moments spent fishing along the Pomeroon River. I often reminisce about the bright colors of our Guyanese clothing, and yes, those moments when clothes can be a little bit... too loose after a good time with friends! 😂 It’s these light-hearted memories that keep our spirits high, whether we’re gathering for a meal of delicious Chinese food—undeniably the best in the Caribbean!—or sharing stories that span generations.
