I often reflect on my experiences as a second-gen Guyanese-American, where I’ve encountered the occasional misconceptions about our homeland. It's amusing when people aren't aware of our vibrant history or even question if we have a government! Yet, it's this diversity in perspective that fuels my passion for connecting with others, especially those in the diaspora. I embrace every opportunity to showcase the warmth of our people, the beauty of our landmarks like Kaieteur Falls, and the unique flavors of our cuisine, which I believe truly represents who we are as a nation.
