Greetings! I’m Anthony George, a dedicated chainsaw operator residing in the vibrant village of Manawarin, nestled in the heart of Shepara, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My work not only connects me with the rich forests that surround our community but also with the spirit of resilience and hard work that defines our people. Growing up here, I’ve been fortunate to learn from the land and the traditions passed down through generations, all while being surrounded by the flavors of our diverse cuisine—nothing beats a good plate of pepperpot or a hearty bowl of cook-up rice after a long day!
Living in this beautiful region, I often find myself reminiscing about the stunning views along the Pomeroon River and the warm camaraderie shared among neighbors. Our community is a melting pot of cultures, reflecting the unique blend of our Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and Indigenous heritage. It’s heartening to see how our traditions thrive, whether it's during festive gatherings or through the delicious meals we share, reminiscent of our little piece of "Little India" in Guyana.
I am also deeply aware of the challenges our country faces, from economic uncertainties to the migration of skilled professionals in search of better opportunities. As a proud Guyanese, I remain committed to contributing to my community while keeping the spirit of our diaspora alive.
