Greetings! I’m Anuradha Prashad, a proud resident of East Bank Essequibo, specifically on 41 Fifth Street North in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant waterways of Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our rich culture and the warmth of our community. From the colorful celebrations of Mashramani to enjoying a plate of pepperpot with family during the holidays, these experiences have shaped my identity and instilled in me a sense of belonging that I carry wherever I go.
As someone who has chosen to stay rooted in my hometown, I cherish the simplicity and authenticity that small-town life offers. While my friends may flock to the bustling cities, I find joy in the serene beauty of the Pomeroon River and the stories that flow through our communities, like those of Kamadankoro and Wakapau. I believe that our connection to the land and each other is what makes us uniquely Guyanese, and I strive to share this perspective with others, especially within the diaspora, where our stories often take on new meanings.
As I continue to navigate life here on the banks of the Pomeroon, I’m hopeful for the future of our beloved homeland.
