Greetings! My name is Aracellie Thomas, and I proudly call Mission, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage, which is reflected in the warmth of our communities and the unique flavors of our local cuisine—although I must admit, not everyone shares my love for dishes like rat stew!
As a resident of this stunning land, I cherish the simple joys of life, from enjoying a Sunday cook-up with family to exploring the majestic River Karawab Creek. My roots run deep in a country that has made significant contributions to the Caribbean community, being a founding member of CARICOM. I often find myself reminiscing about the times spent with loved ones, and I understand why many of us in the diaspora feel the pull to return home, just like some of my friends often express, "I should move back to Guyana."
In my daily life, I embrace the spirit of our culture while also keeping an eye on the global stage. Whether discussing local design competitions or engaging with the rich history of British Guiana, I strive to bring a piece of our heritage wherever I go. The essence of being Guyanese is not just in our food or famous landmarks, but in the connections we forge and the stories we share, both at home and abroad.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
