Hello! My name is Ariel Chappelle, and I’m proud to call Lodge Essequibo Coast my home. As a pharmacist, I’m dedicated to ensuring that my community has access to the best medical care possible. Growing up here, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich blend of cultures that make Guyana so unique, from the vibrant festivals to the mouthwatering dishes like roti and curry, which never fail to bring everyone together at family gatherings.
Living in a nation that has welcomed different peoples throughout history, including the Portuguese and East Indians, has shaped my understanding of community and resilience. I cherish my roots and the stories passed down from my ancestors who were part of the indentured labor wave. Their journey from Madeira and India to our shores is a testament to our diverse heritage, something I carry with pride in my daily life and work.
Beyond my profession, I love engaging with the Guyanese diaspora, who often reminisce about our stunning landscapes and cultural nuances—like the correct pronunciation of our beloved Essequibo River! Whether I’m exploring the local markets or sharing a good laugh over a plate of pepperpot with friends, I’m always excited to connect with fellow Guyanese and celebrate our shared identity.
