Hello! I’m Arita Grovesnor, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast in Onderneeming Sand Pit, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, which is infused with influences from Indigenous, African, Indian, and European heritages. I cherish the warmth of our people and the flavors of our traditional dishes, from pepper pot to metemgee, which remind me of home and the stories shared around the dinner table.
Living in Essequibo, I am surrounded by some of our country's most stunning natural wonders, including the majestic Essequibo River and the breathtaking waterfalls of Kaieteur. These landmarks are not just places to visit; they are part of our identity and showcase the beauty of Guyana. Many of my friends and family members have settled abroad, yet our bonds remain strong as we share experiences and support one another through the diaspora, celebrating milestones like weddings and birthdays over video calls, often accompanied by a plate of our local delicacies.
As I continue to engage with my community and explore the potential of our beautiful homeland, I am committed to highlighting the positives of Guyana.
