Greetings! I’m Arjune Persaud, a proud Guyanese from Wakenaam, specifically the beautiful Maria's Pleasure in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a dedicated labourer, I spend my days contributing to the local community while cherishing the vibrant culture that defines our homeland. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I’ve always found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it's sharing a hearty meal of pepperpot and oxtail with family or enjoying the serene views of the Pomeroon River.
The warmth of our people and the rich flavors of our cuisine connect me deeply to my roots. I fondly remember the excitement of gathering with friends to enjoy a delicious snowcone topped with condensed milk or savoring the distinctive taste of an eggball. Even though I currently reside away from home, my heart often aches for these cherished moments, and I eagerly await the day I can indulge in a traditional breakfast of bake and saltfish once more, just like the Trinis would say, “your welcome!”
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I remain connected to the stories, laughter, and music that resonate with our community. It's heartening to see our culture celebrated, whether through song or shared memories, and I look forward to contributing to this vibrant narrative. From the landmarks we cherish to the delicious dishes we hold dear, I am committed to upholding the spirit of Guyana in all that I do.
