Greetings! My name is Artie Persaud, and Iām proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically the vibrant community of Richmond Lima Sands. Nestled near the Lower Pomeroon River, this enchanting area is known for its lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Growing up here, the soothing sounds of the river and the aroma of pepperpot simmering on a Sunday afternoon have shaped my love for our Guyanese traditions. Whether it's sharing a plate of roti and curry or celebrating Mashramani, I cherish these moments that bring us together as a community.
As a resident of Region 2, I find joy in the diversity of our people and the stories we carry. From the bustling markets of Anna Regina to the serene shores of the Pomeroon, each corner reflects a unique slice of life in Guyana. I understand the challenges we face, as well as the opportunities that come with our recent developments. With oil on the horizon, I remain hopeful that our nation will continue to grow while holding onto the essence of what makes us Guyanese: our resilience and warmth.
