Greetings! My name is Ashton Courtman, and I proudly call St. Monica in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region home. As a dedicated miner, I spend my days working hard in the rich lands of Guyana, where the vibrant culture and natural beauty are as abundant as the resources beneath our feet. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and the flowing waters of the Pomeroon River, I have developed a deep appreciation for our environment and the traditions that define us.
Food plays a significant role in my life, with dishes like pepper pot and cook-up rice bringing back memories of family gatherings and celebrations. I cherish the moments spent sharing meals with loved ones, where laughter fills the air and stories are passed down through generations. The warmth of our community here is palpable, and even as many of us venture abroad, the love for our homeland remains strong. I often reflect on the camaraderie we share—whether it’s reminiscing about our favorite spots like the Arasaro or sharing dreams of a prosperous future for our beloved Guyana, which holds so much potential.
