About ASTRAFF ALLI AMJAD

About Astraff Amjad

Hello! I’m Astraff Amjad, a proud labourer from the vibrant West Coast Demerara, residing in the heart of the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and rich culture of Guyana, I cherish the simple joys of life, from gathering with family for a hearty meal of pepperpot and metemgee to enjoying the serene views of our rivers like the Pomeroon and Yaramai Creek. The essence of my upbringing is steeped in the warmth of community, where we celebrate milestones and traditions, particularly during the festive season when fireworks light up the sky and laughter fills the air.

As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I find immense pride in sharing my heritage with fellow Guyanese abroad. Whether it’s exchanging stories about our favorite local spots, like River Pear Landing at Akawini, or debating the best Caribbean dishes (sorry, Trinidad, but nothing beats our own cook-up rice!), I believe these connections keep our culture alive, no matter where we are in the world. Celebrating each New Year with friends and family, we look forward to embracing new opportunities and adventures, reminding ourselves of the strength found in unity.

With a heart that beats for my homeland, I strive to embody the spirit of resilience and hard work. I carry the memories of Guyana wherever I go, inspired by the natural beauty and vibrant communities that have molded who I am today. Whether you're here in Guyana or part of our global family, I invite you to join me in celebrating our rich heritage and the bonds that tie us together.
