Greetings! My name is Astrid Raghoobar, and I proudly call the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region home. As a dedicated teacher on the Coast Public Road in Hibernia, I am passionate about nurturing the minds of the next generation while instilling in them an appreciation for our vibrant Guyanese culture. From the rhythm of our folk music to the rich flavors of our local dishes—think pepperpot and metemgee—I strive to incorporate the essence of Guyana into my teaching.
Living in a country where the mighty Essequibo River flows and the warmth of our communities shines, I relish sharing stories about our unique experiences, be it the bustling markets of Georgetown or the serene beauty of the rainforest. I often find myself laughing at how even the simplest of phrases can connect us, creating a sense of belonging among our diaspora, whether they’re reminiscing about "Yaramai St. Monica" or expressing their desire to visit. The love for our homeland is strong, and I’m always eager to share that joy with others.
