Hello! My name is Avonna Richards, and I proudly call River Borada Wakapau Lower in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up surrounded by the stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity of the Pomeroon River has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our natural treasures. The melodies of the river and the vibrant culture of our community have shaped my identity and inspire my work as a resident committed to uplifting our area.
As a true Guyanese, I treasure our culinary delights, from the perfect "roe-tee" that brings back memories of family gatherings to the savory pepperpot that graces our holiday tables. It’s the small things, like sharing a meal with loved ones or chatting by the riverside, that forge lasting connections, especially with our diaspora. I often find myself reminiscing about the vibrant atmosphere of our local markets and the warmth of our people, whether it’s sharing a laugh or a heartfelt conversation about life in Guyana and beyond.
Through my experiences, I've learned that while challenges exist, including the struggle for equitable distribution of resources in our beautiful country, there's an undeniable spirit of resilience among us.
