Hello! I'm Avril Hubbard, a dedicated teacher based in the vibrant community of Mocha, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. With a passion for education and cultural exchange, I strive to inspire my students to embrace their heritage while also nurturing their dreams. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and rich traditions of Guyana, I've developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine, from the spicy pepperpot to the comforting roti and curry, which I love to share with friends and family.
As a proud Guyanese, I often reflect on our unique history and the struggles we’ve overcome. Like many in my community, I resonate with the challenges we face, including the misconceptions some may have about our homeland. Our beautiful country is often overshadowed by its past, but it is filled with resilience and strength. I believe that by sharing our stories, whether through the vibrant rhythms of our music or the flavors of our food, we can foster a deeper understanding of our culture among the global diaspora.
