Hello! My name is Balram Bridgewater, and I’m a proud farmer from the vibrant community of Essequibo, specifically in Orangestein on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich agricultural heritage. From cultivating rice and pulse crops to raising livestock, I take pride in contributing to our local food systems and feeding our communities with fresh, homegrown produce.
As a Guyanese, I cherish our culinary delights, especially the delicious flavors of Guyanese Chinese food, which I believe is unparalleled. There’s nothing quite like sharing a plate of pineapple fried rice, a local favorite, with friends and family. Whether it's at a community gathering or a family celebration, food is an essential part of our culture that brings us together—reminding me of the comments from our diaspora that resonate with the same pride and love for our homeland.
With roots that run deep in this beautiful land, I also feel a strong connection to our diaspora community.
