Hello! I’m Basdeo Lilmohan, a proud resident of Essequibo 18 Sideline Dam in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of the Pom River Mora Settlement has deeply influenced who I am today. My roots run deep in this rich land, where the aroma of cook-up rice and fried fish often wafts through the air, inviting friends and family to gather and share stories.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain with our homeland, no matter where we are in the world. From the lively celebrations of Mashramani to the heartfelt reunions over guinep and pepperpot, these experiences shape our identity and help keep our culture alive. I often reflect on the warmth and camaraderie found in our communities, whether in Charlestown or at the riverside gatherings in Lower Pom River Grant Heathfield Lower.
