Hello! My name is Beekram Poorandai, and I hail from the vibrant community of Pomeroon-Supenaam in Guyana. Growing up along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, I’ve always cherished the simple pleasures of life—whether it’s sharing a plate of warm roti and curry with family or enjoying the rhythm of our local music during celebrations. I often reminisce about the times spent at the scenic Georgetown waterfront or visiting the majestic Kaieteur Falls, where the splendor of nature leaves one in awe. These places hold a special significance and foster a deep connection to my roots, even as I navigate life far from home.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the challenges that come with leaving one’s homeland, but I also embrace the opportunity to share our culture with others.
