Hello! My name is Bernard Matthews, and I’m proud to call Coast 10 Adventure in Essequibo my home. Growing up in this vibrant region, I have been shaped by the rich cultural landscape of Guyana, where the confluence of diverse traditions can be felt in every celebration. From the rhythmic beats of our local drumming to the tantalizing aroma of dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice, my upbringing has been infused with the flavors and sounds of our heritage.
Living near the Pomeroon River, I often reminisce about my childhood days spent exploring the lush surroundings and navigating the ferries in Parika, which still serve as vital links for our communities. Whether it's a weekend gathering at the local market or a family event filled with laughter and stories, the bonds forged here are irreplaceable. As our diaspora continues to flourish, I cherish the connections we maintain and the stories we share about our beloved Guyana, from the Jim Jones saga to the serene beauty of Akawini.
As I reflect on my roots, I am grateful for the vibrant community that surrounds me, both here in Guyana and abroad.
