Welcome! My name is Bernice Solomon, and I proudly call the beautiful region of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a housewife, I embrace the rich cultural heritage of Guyana, where we celebrate our diversity through storytelling, music, and, of course, our vibrant cuisine. Whether it’s whipping up a delicious plate of curry topped with homemade roti or sharing a meal with family and friends, I believe that food is a universal language that brings us all together. Growing up, I was surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Upper Pomeroon River, which have shaped my love for nature and the outdoors. My fondest memories are spent exploring the stunning waterways and sharing stories with neighbors, who often feel like extended family. We have a unique way of calling each other “uncle” or “aunty,” which reflects the close-knit bonds that define our culture. It’s a tradition that transcends bloodlines and demonstrates our strong sense of unity.
Through the years, I have cherished my connections with the Guyanese diaspora, especially those who have settled in far-off lands. Their stories of home, accompanied by the sounds of our local music and the tastes of our native dishes, keep our culture alive no matter where we are. I am passionate about sharing the beauty of Guyana with the world and hope to inspire others to experience the love and pride we hold for our country.
