Hello! I’m Bevis Douglas, a proud Guyanese currently serving as a prison officer in the vibrant region of Demerara, specifically at Vauxhall Canal No 1 in Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. My heart swells with pride when I think of my beautiful homeland, Guyana, known for its lush rainforests, stunning waterfalls like the majestic Kaieteur Falls, and a rich cultural heritage that reflects the mosaic of our people.
Growing up in Guyana, I developed a deep appreciation for our diverse culinary traditions. Whether it’s savoring a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or indulging in a bowl of metemgee, the flavors of our cuisine tell stories of our ancestors.
